The last four digite of this DOT number 4706 mean that the tire was made in the 47th week of 2006.

Next time your washing the car, take a look at the tires.

Most drivers wear out their tires before tire cracking even becomes an issue,  but tires start to show signs of aging after 3-4 years and may get small cracks in the tread or sidewall.

Acid rain, harsh chemicals, dripping gasoline, tire shine products, under inflated, scuffed, misaligned, the sun, the ozone, hot ashpalt and freezing roads…it’s a lot of abuse over the years and the rubber compounds will eventually break down.

There’s no “Oil of Olay” for tires and spray-on tire protectants don’t work. Some are petroleum based and will accelerate the cracking on your tires and void your warranty.

Most tire manufacturers will warranty their tires against “normal” weather cracking for 4 years, although there is some fine print.

For the best results, we recommend contacting the manufacturer of your tires directly and let them refer you to one of their authorized dealers.
